Your Experience Step by Step
Pre-Dive Equipment Fitting
The day before your adventure, you visit the dive center for gear fitting and preparation.
On dive day, your instructor provides a clear safety briefing of about 20 minutes covering equipment use, breathing techniques, and underwater communication.
Moment to feel: Excitement building before your first dive.
Once you reach the dive site, you’ll enter the water with your instructor and descend gradually to around 10–12 meters, an ideal depth for beginners.
Possible encounters include:
- Sea turtles
- Colorful reef fish
- Octopus
- White-tip reef sharks
- Mobulas and rays
- Occasionally hammerhead sharks
Your guide remains close at all times, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience.
Highlight: Your first real breath underwater in the Galapagos.
The second water session typically takes place near Daphne Island.
- Certified divers: second dive at ~13–15 meters
- Beginners without license: guided snorkeling for safety
Even while snorkeling, you may observe:
- Schools of tropical fish
- Corals and plankton
- Starfish
- Reef sharks and rays
Highlight: Building confidence in one of the world’s richest marine ecosystems.
After your water activities, enjoy a hot meal onboard before returning to the Itabaca Channel and transferring back to Puerto Ayora.
