Your Experience Step by Step
Morning Departure from Santa Cruz
Your day begins with transfer from Puerto Ayora across Santa Cruz to the Itabaca Channel, where your yacht awaits.
As you sail toward South Plaza, the scenery quickly shifts to rugged volcanic coastline and open Pacific waters.
Moment to enjoy: Smooth navigation through the Galapagos Marine Reserve.
After landing, your naturalist guide leads you along one of the most wildlife-packed trails in the central islands.
During the walk you may encounter:
- Galapagos land iguanas basking under cactus forests
- Large colonies of sea lions
- Marine iguanas along the shore
- Swallow-tailed gulls and other seabirds
- Opuntia cactus landscapes
South Plaza is especially famous for its colorful ground vegetation that turns deep red during the dry season, creating one of the most photogenic settings in the archipelago.
Highlight: Close-range encounters with land iguanas.
Continue toward the island’s dramatic ocean cliffs, where updrafts attract nesting seabirds.
Here you may observe:
- Frigatebirds
- Tropicbirds
- Gulls
- Boobies
The contrast between turquoise water, volcanic rock, and red vegetation makes this one of the most visually striking viewpoints in the Galapagos.
Highlight: One of the best coastal panoramas in the central islands.
After the island walk, the yacht moves to a calm snorkeling location, often Carrion Point.
Possible marine encounters include:
- Sea turtles
- Reef fish
- Rays
- Sea lions (occasionally)
Lunch is served onboard between activities.
Highlight: A refreshing marine complement to the land exploration.
After a full day of wildlife and scenery, sail back to Santa Cruz and transfer to your hotel.
You return with one clear impression:
South Plaza may be small…
but it delivers big.
