Covering more than 600,000 hectares of protected rainforest, Cuyabeno is one of Ecuador’s largest and most biologically rich reserves.
From winding black-water rivers to flooded forests and remote lagoons, every moment in Cuyabeno feels like stepping into a living nature documentary.
- Morning: Travel from Quito to Lago Agrio via flight (09:20 AM) or a scenic 7-hour bus ride (departing the previous day).
- Afternoon: Ground transfer to El Puente, followed by a 3-hour motorized canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River. Our Ministry of Environment-certified bilingual guides will introduce you to the local flora and fauna.
- Evening: Check-in at Canangueno Lodge. After dinner, enjoy a guided night walk to discover the rainforest's nocturnal life.
- Morning: Visit the Siona Seoqueya community of Tarapuy. Immerse yourself in their culture and traditions with hands-on activities, including making artisanal jewelry, shigras (handbags), and a traditional casabe (cassava bread) demonstration.
- Afternoon: Navigate the Cuyabeno River to witness the magic of nature. Keep your eyes and ears open for birds, monkeys, and pink river dolphins.
- Morning: Canoe trip to Laguna Grande, followed by a hike through the primary forest. Learn about lake ecosystems, medicinal plants, and local biodiversity.
- Evening: Watch a stunning sunset over the Cuyabeno horizon. After dark, join a night expedition to spot caimans along the riverbanks.
- Morning: 6:00 AM wildlife observation session on the river, followed by breakfast.
- Afternoon: Depart the lodge at 09:30 AM toward El Puente and Lago Agrio (arrival at 4:00 PM) for your return bus or flight to Quito.
